A hysterectomy is a significant operation where the uterus of a woman is removed. Numerous period-related problems, pelvic pain, tumors, and other disorders are treated with it. A complete or total hysterectomy involves the removal of the entire uterus, including the cervix. Only the upper portion of the uterus is removed with a partial or subtotal hysterectomy, leaving the cervix and other internal organs unharmed. The uterus, cervix, upper vaginal wall, supporting tissues, and, in most cases, pelvic lymph nodes are all removed during a radical hysterectomy.
