\mathrm{Li}_2 \mathrm{CO}_3 decompose on heating to form  \mathrm{Li}_2 \mathrm{O} and  \mathrm{CO}_2 .

Lithium is the only alkali metal which readily reacts with nitrogen at room temperature and forms stable lithium nitride.

6 \mathrm{Li}+\mathrm{N}_2 \rightarrow 2 \mathrm{Li}_3 \mathrm{N}

Hydration energy of alkali metal ions decreases down the group as the size of the ion increases.

Caesium and potassium are used as electrode in photoelectric cells because of their high electropositivity. They give up their valence shell electron with small amount of light.
