The deviation produced by first mirror = 180 – \mathrm{2i_1 } and the deviation produced by second mirror = 180 – \mathrm{2i_2. } The total deviation is \mathrm{180^{\circ} } as MP and QN are anti parallel


 So, \mathrm{180^{\circ}=360^{\circ}-2\left(\mathrm{i}_1+\mathrm{i}_2\right) \\ }

\mathrm{\therefore \quad \mathrm{i}_1+\mathrm{i}_2=\theta=90^{\circ} }
