Sub aerial stem -

A part of the stem remains underground and the other above ground

Type of sub aerial stem -

Runner - Clognated, prostrate, aerial branch, long intermodes and roots originates at nodes. Ex:Oxalis, grasses, hydrocotyl

Sucker- arise from axillary bud of underground part of stem. Sucker is shorter than stolon. Ex: Mint, Chrysanthemum & Raspberry

Stolon - Strawberry

Offset - Pistia (water lettuce) & Eichhornia water hyacinth
