  • Retina is the innermost layer of the eye
  • It consists of three layers from inner to outer 
  • These layers are Ganglion layer, Bipolar layer and Photoreceptors
  • The photoreceptors are Rods and Cones 
  • Retina shows an area called blind spot from where optic nerve arises. This area does not show presence of any Photoreceptors 
  • Lateral to the blind spot, there is an area called as Macula densa that shows presence of only cons
  • The centre of Macula is Fovea centralis which shows maximum number of cones 
  • Iris is the middle layer of eye and it is the coloured portion of the eye
