Nervous System and Sense Organs in Aschelminthes:

  • The nervous system is made up of four nerve cords that run dorsally, ventrally and laterally.
  • These nerve cords fuse near pharynx at the anterior end to form the ‘brain’ 

The following sense organs are present:

  1. Papillae that occur on lips and behind the cloacal aperture. They are tactile in function.
  2. Amphids that are present on the lips and are chemoreceptors.
  3. Phasmids that are present at the posterior end and are glandular sensory in function.
