Types of neurons on the basis of polarity -

Neurons can be -

  • Unipolar - Only one axon but no dendron. Found only in embryos.
  • Bipolar - One axon and one dendron. Found in the Olfactory epithelium, Retina of eyes
  • Multipolar - One axon and many dendrons. Found in CNS (Brain and spinal cord) and ANS. Most abundant in humans
  • Pseudounipolar neuron - They are actually bipolar but looks like unipolar. Found in dorsal root ganglion of the spinal cord.
