  • Tuberous roots: A single root arises from the nodes of the stem. Example: sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas)
  • Fasciculated roots: Cluster of tubercular roots. Example: Asparagus and Dahlia
  • Nodulose roots: Tips of roots swell up. Example: Arrow-root (Maranta) and turmeric (Curcuma domestica)
  • Beaded or moniliform roots: These roots swell up at regular intervals. Example: Momordica, mango ginger (Curcuma amada), Vitis, portulaca
