Hydration energy depends on the charge of ion and ionic radius. Charge is considered first for comparison. Higher the charge, greater the hydration energy. On the other hand, smaller the size, greater the hydration energy. \mathrm{Mg^{2+}} is bigger than \mathrm{Al^{3+}, Ca^{2+}} but smaller than \mathrm{Na^{+}}. Hence,\mathrm{Mg^{2+}} has higher hydration energy than \mathrm{Na^{+}}
