The velocity of a traverse wave,

V= \sqrt{\frac{T}{\rho A}}

V\alpha \frac{1}{\sqrt{A} }

V= \frac{1}{R}

where R is the radius of copper wire.

because, the velocity of wire depends on the radius . so, traverse wave travels faster in thinner wire.
