What is the final step in ICSI?
Preparation of gametes
Formation of embryos
Transfer of embryos into the uterus
Retrieval of oocytes
The final step in ICSI is the transfer of embryos into the uterus. After the formation of embryos, they are cultured in the laboratory for a few days before being transferred into the uterus. The embryo transfer is usually done 2-5 days after the fertilization process. During the transfer, a catheter is passed through the cervix and into the uterus, and the embryos are placed in the uterus. The number of embryos transferred depends on various factors such as the age of the female partner and the quality of the embryos. After the transfer, the female partner is advised to rest for a while, and follow-up visits are scheduled to monitor the progress of the pregnancy. Hence option 3 is the correct answer.
