Lichens -

Symbiotic association between algae (phycobiont) and fungi (mycobiont).

They are good pollution indicator.

 Lichens often grow in most in hospitable and uninhabited places . Decrease in lichen population of an area is indicative of air pollution especially SO2 pollution
