L.H.S. x^3 -4x^2 -x +1 ,

and R.H.S (x-2)^3 can be written as:

= x^3-6x^2+12x-8

\Rightarrow x^3-4x^2-x+1 = x^3-6x^2+12x-8

i.e., 2x^2-13x+9=0

This equation is of type: ax^2+bx+c = 0.

Hence, the given equation is a quadratic equation.
