From where does ozone come in the photochemical smog?

Answers (1)

Nitric oxide and the free oxygen atom is formed by breaking NO_2 by absorbing sunlight

NO_2 (g) \rightarrow NO (g) + O (g)

We know that oxygen atoms are very reactive, and hence, they react with O_{2} to form ozone

O(g) + O_2(g) + M \rightarrow O_{3}(g) + M

M can be the inert gas such as N_{2} or O_{3}, which is produced during smog formation.
