We have      \small a(a^2+a+1)+5.

or                  \small a(a^2+a+1)+5 = a^3+a^2+a+5

Put       a = (-1)

         =     = (-1)^3+(-1)^2+(-1)+5 = -1 + 1 -1 +5 = 4
