State whether the statements are True or False.
The probability of an occurrence of event A is .7 and that of the occurrence of event B is .3 and the probability of occurrence of both is .4.
Given data:
P (occurrence of event A) = 0.7
P (occurrence of event B) = 0.3
P (occurrence of both) = 0.4
Now,
P (A ∩ B) = P (A) x P (B)
P (A ∩ B) = 0.7 x 0.3
= 0.21
But, given
P (A ∩ B) = 0.4
Thus, the given statement is False.
Hii guys....
The answer of this question is......
FALSE....
Hope this will help you......
Bubyeeeeee.......
It's false because the intersection of A and B is 0.21 and not 0.4
P ( A) = 0.7
P ( B) = 0.3
P ( both) = 0.4
P (A ∩ B) = P (A) x P (B)
P (A ∩ B) = 0.7 x 0.3
= 0.21
P (A ∩ B) = 0.4
therefor the given statement is false
