Lower animals like the amoeba move with the help of body extensions called cilia and flagella responsible for their amoeboid movement. Amoebas are identified by their ability to form temporary cytoplasmic extensions called pseudopodia, or false feet, by means of which they move about from one place to the other. This type of movement  is considered to be the most primitive form of animal locomotion.
