The ratio between the perimeter and the breadth of a rectangle is 5 : 1. If the area of the rectangle is 216 sq. cm, what is the length of the rectangle?

Answers (1)

Assume the bredth of the rectangle is x and its perimeter is 5x.

Length of the rectangle = (5x - 2x)/2 = 3x/2

Area of the rectangle = (3x/2)(x) = 216

x2 = 144

x = 12 cm

Length of the rectangle = 3(12)/2 = 18 cm.
