Time taken by the object to fall through 45 \mathrm{~m} is

t=\sqrt{\frac{2 h}{g}}=\sqrt{\frac{2 \alpha 45}{9.8}} \Rightarrow \sqrt{9.18} \approx 3 \mathrm{sec} .

If v is the speed of boat, then the distance travelled by boat in t=3 \mathrm{sec}  is

18 \mathrm{~m}=v \times 3 \mathrm{sec} \\
v=6 \mathrm{~m} / \mathrm{s}
