Hydrogen has only one orbital 1s which is strongly attracted to its nucleus. Due to small atomic size of Hydrogen, the valence shell electron is tightly
bound to the nucleus whereas valence shell electrons in alkali metals lack such attraction towards nucleus. Due to this strong attraction force, it takes more energy to remove an electron from Hydrogen atom.
