 they are almost always nonstoichiometric, being deficient in hydrogen. For

example, \mathrm{LaH_2._8_7, YbH_2._5_5,} \mathrm{\mathrm{TiH}_{1.5-1.8} ,\mathrm{ZrH}_{1,3-1.75}} etc. In such hydrides, the law of constant composition does not hold good.
