Q2 Factorise

(VII)

( x ^2 -2xy + y^2 ) - z ^2

Answers (1)

We have,
             ( x ^2 -2xy + y^2 ) - z ^2 = (x-y)^{2} - z^{2}                                     (using \ (a-b)^{2} = a^{2} -2ab + b^{2})
                                                         = (x - y - z)(x - y + z)                                    (using \ (a)^{2} - (b)^{2} = (a -b ) (a+b))
