Explanation:-

i) Figure a) represents the characteristics of the Zener diode and Figure b) represents a solar cell. The Zener diode remains non-conductive initially, but when the reverse voltage exceeds the Zener breakdown voltage, it starts conducting heavily. 

ii) Figure a) the point P represents the zener breakdown voltage.  At this point, the Zener diode provides a stable output voltage despite changes in the input voltage or load current, a feature utilized in voltage regulation.

Before P, in the reverse-biased region, the current is negligible. Beyond P, the current rises sharply.

iii) Figure b) the point Q represents negative current and zero voltage.
