The efficiency of Carnot's engine \mu =1-T_2/T_1

T_{1}(Temp of source)=500K 

T_{2}Temp of sink=300K

\frac{\text{Output work}}{\text{Input work}}=1-\frac{300}{500 }

\frac{1000 J}{x}=1-0.6

\frac{1000 }{x}=0.4

x=\frac{1000}{0.4}=2500J
