Explain why [Fe(H_{2}{O})_{6}]^{3+} has a magnetic moment value of 5.92 BM whereas [Fe(CN)_{6}]^{3-} has a value of only 1.74 BM.

The weak field ligand, H_{2}O in [Fe(H_{2}{O})_{6}]^{3+}, won’t cause pairing of electrons. And therefore, there will be 5 unpaired electrons.

CN^{-} is a very strong field ligand which can easily cause the pairing of all the electrons. And Fe^{3+} in [Fe(CN)_{6}]^{3-} has six unpaired electrons, so the electrons will start pairing, leaving one unpaired electron behind.
