Critical concentration is the concentration of essential elements below which the growth of the plant is stunted and retarded. Deficient concentration is the inadequate supply of nutrient in plant resulting in deficiency symptoms.

For Zn, the critical concentration is 0.5 to 1 per cent while deficient is less than 0.5 per cent.

For Fe, the critical concentration is 3.5-5 per cent while deficient is less than 3.5 per cent.
