The radiation from the sun reaches the earth's surface. Most of the incident radiation gets reflected from the earth's surface and water. If there is no atmosphere around the Earth, most of the radiation will reflect in space. But this reflected radiation from water and land gets trapped in the atmosphere. This radiation warms the atmosphere around the earth.
Hence the correct option is D.
