According to questions at present father’s age is six times than son’s age.
Let son age = x
Father age = y
y = 6x … (1)
After 4 years Father’s age will be four times than son’s age. That is
y + 4 = 4 (x + 4)
y + 4 = 4x + 16
4x – y + 12 = 0 …(2)
Put y = 6x in equation (2)
4x – 6x + 12 = 0
+ 2x = + 12
x = \frac{12}{2} = 6
Put x = 6 in equation (1)
y = 6 (6) = 36
y = 36
Hence present age of father is 36 and son is 6.
