Let ‘n’ be the no. Of parts on the Vernier scale, n = 50

Now, the no. Of parts of M.S. coinciding with n parts of vernier scale = (n-1)

Now, Least count of an instrument = L.C. of Mainscale/n

                                                            = 0.5mm/50

Thus, the minimum accuracy will be 0.01 mm.
