Hint:

If f(x)  is decreasing, then  f'(x)<0

Given:

                f(x)=ax+b

Explanation:

It is given that,

                f(x)=ax+b

\Rightarrow         f'(x)=a

Now,   f'(x)<0  as  f(x)  is decreasing

\Rightarrow         a<0

\Rightarrow         a\epsilon (-\infty ,0)

Thus,  f(x)  is decreasing for  a\epsilon (-\infty ,0)
