(a) Area of a rectangle = length × breadth
= (6 × 2) sq units = 12 sq units
(b) Given,
Perimeter of a rectangle = Perimeter of a square
⇒ 2(length + breadth) = 4 × side ⇒ 2(6 + 2) = 4 × side ⇒ 2(8) = 4 × side
⇒ side = 4 units
∴ The area of square = side × side
= (4 × 4) sq units = 16 sq units
