Solution.
Given: AB = 5cm, BC = 8cm and CA = 7cm and D and E are the mid points of AB and BC.
To Find: Length of DE

Using mid-point theorem DE\parallel AC
And  DE=\frac{1}{2}AC
DE=\frac{1}{2}\times 7
DE=\frac{7}{2}cm
DE=3.5cm
Hence answer is 3.5 cm
