The pollen tube helps in transporting pollen grains to the ovule inside which eggs are present. The pollen germinates on the upper surface of the stigma. Hence, the length of the pollen tube will depend on the distance between the upper surface of the stigma and the lower part of the ovule and it will ensure that pollen reaches the stigma and pollination is successful. 

Hence, (d) is the correct option.
