At point P,

\frac{q}{4\pi \varepsilon _0}x^{2}= \frac{3q}{4\pi \varepsilon _0}\: \: \left ( {x+d} \right )^{2}

\left ( {x+d} \right )^{2}=3x^{2}

On further solving the equation, we will get the distance between the 2q and q charges as

\frac{d}{2}(1+\sqrt{3})
