Dwarfism results due to
(a) Excess secretion of thyroxin
(b) Less secretion of growth hormone
(c) Less secretion of adrenaline
(d) Excess secretion of growth hormone

Answers (1)

(b) Less secretion of growth hormone

Explanation: The pituitary gland releases growth hormone (GH) also called somatostatin. The over-secretion of GH stimulates abnormal growth of the body leading to gigantism and low secretion of GH results in stunted growth resulting in dwarfism. The symptoms of dwarfism include shortened arms and legs, a short neck, a broad, rounded chest, slightly flattened cheekbones, a slow growth pattern and an unusually small stature.
