Why does bread mould grow profusely on a moist slice of bread rather than on a dry slice of bread?

Answers (1)

Moist conditions are suitable for the germination of spores and growth of hyphae. Even though bread is a suitable source of nutrients dry conditions wouldn’t allow spores to germinate. That is why bread molds grow profusely on a moist slice of bread rather than on a dry slice.
