Triticale was created through the artificial hybridisation of rye (Secale cereale) and wheat (Triticum aestivum). Its high protein content, robust growth, strong yield, and resistance to cold are all attractive traits.
Large, broad leaves of triticale are used by cattle for grazing. The baking business uses triticale flour. It is also employed in the manufacturing of ethanol.
