Continuity of a function at a point –

A function f(x) is said to be continuous at a point x=a if and only if

\lim _{x \rightarrow a} f(x)=f(a)_{\text {i.e. }} \lim _{x \rightarrow a^{-}} f(x)=f(a) \text { and } \lim _{x \rightarrow a^{+}} f(x)=f(a)
