What will happen if mucus is not secreted by the gastric glands?

Answers (1)

Gastric juice is produced by the gastric glands of the stomach. It contains pepsin, HCl, and mucus. HCl imparts highly acidic pH to the stomach which bolsters the transformation of pepsinogen into dynamic pepsin. The mucus protects the inner lining of the stomach from the HCl produced by gastric glands. If the mucus is not released it will damage the inner lining of the stomach causing acidity, ulcers, and complete failure of the stomach.
