Why do veins have thin walls as compared to arteries?

Answers (1)

Blood emerges from the heart with high pressure. Arteries have thick muscular walls because they are responsible for carrying high-pressure blood to other body organs.
Compared to arteries, veins carry deoxygenated blood from all body parts back to the heart. They handle larger volumes of blood flowing at a lower pressure therefore veins are thin-walled blood vessels.
