Find the distance between the directrices of the ellipse \frac{x^{2}}{36}+\frac{y^{2}}{20}=1

The equation of the ellipse is \frac{x^{2}}{36}+\frac{y^{2}}{20}=1

a=6 andb=2\sqrt{5}

We know that b^{2}=a^{2}\left ( 1-e^{2} \right )

\frac{20}{36}=1-e^{2}

e^{2}=\frac{4}{9}

x=\pm \frac{a}{e}

Distance between directrix=\frac{2a}{e}=\frac{2*6}{\frac{2}{3}}=18
