Explanation:

Area OAB

\begin{aligned} &=\int_{0}^{1}x^{3}dx\\ &=\left [ \frac{x^{4}}{4} \right ]_{0}^{1}\\ &=\frac{1}{4} \end{aligned}

Area OCD

\begin{aligned} &=\int_{-2}^{0}x^{3}dx\\ &=\left [ \frac{x}{4} \right ]_{-2}^{0}\\ &=-4 \end{aligned}

As area is always positive

=4

Total area

\begin{aligned} &=4+\frac{1}{4}\\ &=\frac{17}{4} \end{aligned}
