Here, \left|\begin{array}{ccc} 2 & 3 & 4 \\ 2 x & 3 x & 4 x \\ 5 & 6 & 8 \end{array}\right|

\begin{aligned} &=2\left|\begin{array}{cc} 3 x & 4 x \\ 6 & 8 \end{array}\right|-3\left|\begin{array}{cc} 2 x & 4 x \\ 5 & 8 \end{array}\right|+4\left|\begin{array}{cc} 2 x & 3 x \\ 5 & 6 \end{array}\right| \\ &=2(24 x-24 x)-3(16 x-20 x)+4(12 x-15 x) \\ &=2(0)-3(-4 x)+4(-3 x) \\ &=0+12 x-12 x \\ &=0 \end{aligned}
