Hint: Here we use basic concept of determinant of matrix

Given: \left|\begin{array}{cc} x+1 & x-1 \\ x-3 & x+2 \end{array}\right|=\left|\begin{array}{cc} 4 & -1 \\ 1 & 3 \end{array}\right|

Solution :

\begin{aligned} &=\left|\begin{array}{ll} x+1 & x-1 \\ x-3 & x+2 \end{array}\right|=[4 \times 3]-[-1 \times 1]=13 \\ &=R_{2} \rightarrow R_{2}-R_{1} \\ &=\left|\begin{array}{cc} x+1 & x-1 \\ -4 & 3 \end{array}\right|=13 \end{aligned}

\begin{aligned} &3 x+3-(-4 x+4)=13 \\ &3 x+3+4 x-4=13 \\ &7 x-1=13 \\ &7 x=14 \\ &x=2 \end{aligned}
