Please Solve RD Sharma Class 12 Chapter 4 Algebra of Matrices Exercise Very Short Asnwer Question 33 Maths Textbook Solution.

Answer: x=2\: and\: y=7

Hint: We can use the basic union concept of matrices.

Given:  if \begin{bmatrix} x+3 &4 \\ y-4 & x+y \end{bmatrix}=\begin{bmatrix} 5 &4 \\ 3 & 9 \end{bmatrix} Find x and y

Solution:

Here,

x+3=y

x=2                                    .......(i)

\therefore y-4=3

y=7                                  .........(ii)

\therefore x+y=9

=2+7=9  [From (i) and (ii)]

RHS=LHS

So,x=2\: and\: y=7
