Given: \mid \vec{a}+\vec{b}\mid =60 ,     \mid \vec{a}-\vec{b}\mid =40 and  \mid \vec{b}\mid =46 Find \mid \vec{a}\mid

Solution: we know,

\begin{aligned} &|\vec{a}+\vec{b}|^{2}+|\vec{a}-\vec{b}|^{2}=\left.2|| \vec{a}\right|^{2}+|\vec{b}|^{2} \mid \\\\ &(60)^{2}+(40)^{2}=2\left(|\vec{a}|+(46)^{2}\right) \\\\ &3600+1600=2|\vec{a}|^{2}+4232 \\\\ &5200-4232=2|\vec{a}|^{2} \\\\ &968=2|\vec{a}|^{2} \\\\ &|\vec{a}|^{2}=484 \\\\ &|\vec{a}|=22 \end{aligned}
