Given: 30% fails in physics,

20% fails in maths,

10% fails in both

Solution: A – physics,B – maths

\begin{aligned} &P(A)=30 \% \\ &P(B)=25 \% \\ &P(A \cap B)=10 \end{aligned}

Now,

\begin{aligned} &P\left(\frac{A}{B}\right)=\frac{P(A \cap B)}{P(B)} \\ &=\frac{\left(\frac{1}{10}\right)}{\left(\frac{1}{4}\right)} \\ &=\frac{4}{10}=\frac{2}{5} \end{aligned}
